Derrick Offei is a native of Accra, Ghana. He is currently a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) student in Food Process Engineering at the University of Ghana, Legon. He attended Accra Academy on a full scholarship from the Ghana Educational Collaborative where he studied General Science. He completed his Bachelors from University of Ghana, Legon in Food Process Engineering, graduating with Honors.
During his time at the University of Ghana, Legon Derrick assumed many leadership roles among them, Public Relations Officer for the Engineering Students Association. Derrick was among the four students who represented the Engineering School in an Innovative Research Competition into the food packaging industry organized by Royal Crown packaging Ltd and the Institute of Packaging Ghana, where they placed second. During his senior year he was part of a national science competition for a research project on Food Plant Design for processing instant fula.
Derrick’s passions lie in giving back to his community, education and research. Derrick is a proud alumnus of GEC and currently serves as the program coordinator, who dovetails all GEC activities in Accra, Ghana and gives progressive reports to the motherboard in the USA. He believes GEC has transformed his life and is a commitment to being a part of helping to transform the lives of other youth like him in Ghana.
